Training Info & Schedules

The first step to becoming a CASA volunteer is to complete a volunteer application, which includes references and a criminal background check. After your application is reviewed, CASA staff will interview you.

If you pass all initial screenings, you are then accepted into training, CASA volunteers typically undergo 30 hours of classroom training and 10 hours of court observation over a 4 - 10 week period. The days and times for training sessions vary and are set by each CASA program.

The entire training period is included in the assessment and screening process for volunteers. Upon completion of the training period, if the CASA volunteer opportunity is the right fit for you, you will be sworn in as an officer of the court by the juvenile court judge. You will then be assigned as a CASA volunteer for a child or sibling group!
